Healthy Things to Snack On

– By Jaanu

I’m sure you’ll agree that snacks are pretty great. What better way to combat mid-afternoon hunger than to munch on something light but sort of filling? Snacks bridge the gap from meal to meal. In situations like the pandemic quarantine, however, it becomes far too easy to snack on processed and unhealthy treats because, at home, they are a lot more accessible! Next time you want a snack, try one of these whole food ones instead!

  • Greek Yogurt and Berries: Greek yogurt contains large quantities of potassium, calcium, and protein. Mix it up and add some berries, nuts, and granola for sweetness and crunch.
  • Kale Chips: Prefer something salty? Kale chips are hassle-free and take about 10 minutes to prepare. Kale is very high in fiber!
  • Dark Chocolate with Almonds: Dark chocolate is still chocolate! Both almonds and dark chocolate contain a lot of magnesium. Plus, dark chocolate in moderation can actually reduce risk of heart disease.
  • Sliced Fruits or Veggies: Why not go for the healthiest snacks of all? Whole foods are far better to eat than nearly any other snack. Snack on baby carrots, sliced cucumbers, or maybe a plum.
