Does Breakfast Really Matter?

By Jaanu

Over the years, I’ve been exposed to a variety of opinions on that controversial meal, breakfast. Some claim that a cup of coffee is enough to sustain a body till noon. Others insist that breakfast must be the largest meal of the day. What is the truth, and does it really matter?

To answer this timeless question, I turned first to experience.

I find, personally, that the amount of sleep I get correlates directly with how much breakfast I need.

I tend not to be hungry when I sleep less, as my highly scientific graph shows. apart from sleepovers, which of course represent the fly in the statistics. During a sleepover, one gets little sleep and wakes up ravenously hungry.

I also tend not to be too hungry during school days. I go to sleep later on school nights when I have homework to complete after extracurriculars have been attended. The mornings after these later nights are the least hungry mornings for me. I am hungriest when I get lots of sleep and wake well-rested and feel energized. Ironic! Unfortunately, my claim won’t be verified in this article, as professional answers to this tend to vary. To each his own, I suppose?
