Outdoor Summer Activities
It’s not even summer yet, but students who are out of school are already feeling the faintest stirrings of the summer boredom. But there are a million things you can do with family and friends, all while enjoying the Great Outdoors! Here are some of our favorite ideas:
~ MAKE ICE CREAM IN A BAG: This is a very quick craft? Recipe? Experiment? Whatever you call it, it’s a rapid, edible, child-safe project to undertake. This ice cream can be make using household ingredients and causes minimal mess!
~ HANG A HAMMOCK IF POSSIBLE: Spend a lazy afternoon reading or listening to music while floating down the hypothetical Idle River by resting on a hammock. Your eyelids may be getting heavy but try to stay awake and maximize enjoyment!
~ FIND A LOCAL FLOWER FIELD and GO PICK WILDFLOWERS: Even if you don’t pluck flowers, enjoy the natural beauty and feel the grass under your feet. What kinds of flowers grow locally for you? Do a little exploring and identify your particular local gems.
~ PLAY OUTDOOR CHALK GAMES: Hopscotch, four square, those quaint schoolyard games. Perhaps you’d be interested in a chalked-up game of chess?
~ FIND A LOCAL CAMPING SPOT, BUILD A FIRE, and MAKE SMORES:
If you know, you know. This is THE summer activity. Building a campfire and making desserts with it is the real definition of the sweet life.
~ GO GARDENING: Just spend time outside when possible. Stay hydrated and sunscreened though!
