QUINCE WHEN is QUINCE a FALL FRUIT? By Jaanu
Quince is a rather favorite secret for those fortunate few who have discovered its uncommon charm. Quince, or Cydonia oblonga, is a fruit native to the Jammu Kashmir regions of India, to Middle Eastern nations, and the Crimean Peninsula. We’ve discussed quince before – but I’ve some new insights to share in light of a 2020 study on medicinal uses and phytochemistry of quince. So, what “emerging health benefits” of quince should you be aware of?
- Some sources have shown that quinces (quincii? 🤔) contain 5 grams of fiber per typical serving.
- Quince is a rich source of potassium and phosphorus.
- Traditionally, quince has been believed to have healing, anti-inflammatory effects – and scientists today have confirmed this quality, along with anti-allergenic qualities.
- Quince has been shown to alleviate dermatitis and boost general skin health ✨
- Eating quince can act against diabetes by reducing excess blood glucose levels.
- Acid reflux can be mitigated by eating quince. Since traditional medicine eras, quince syrup has been used to relieve the burning symptoms of acid reflux.
- Quince is very rich in antioxidants.
Quince is a fruit that is very easy to incorporate into your diet, as well!! Apparently, it gives jellies and preserves a lovely color and flavor. Enjoy!
