Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
This is one of those very special children’s books that hides profound life lessons inside a charming little fairy tale. It’s one of those books that makes you laugh, and think, and read on and on, the kind of perfect nursery storybook.
Rating:
Alice in Wonderland is a mad book, there’s no other way to put it. It’s funny and odd and interesting – I believe Lewis Caroll himself meant for it to be something like the dream of a child, and that’s hitting the nail on the head. Reading the book makes you imagine being in the story, the mad dream yourself. And it is beyond gratifying to read iconic lines. Alice in Wonderland is an opportunity to withdraw from the real world into an imaginary one populated with odd characters and odder words. Poems like “Jabberwocky” are as famous today as they were over a hundred years ago. Take a little break from the real world with Alice in Wonderland – it’s worth it. You’ll want to continue the adventure with Through the Looking Glass! ⏳
