Dear Readers,

I always dread the end of the Christmas and holiday season. The joyous, glittery anticipation of vacation is over! Fortunately, there’s always something that tides me over until the next holiday- and that’s the promise and feeling of opportunity that the New Year brings. It helps that 2025 is a lovely, crisp number!

Something I’ve heard from trusted adults in my life recently has been reminders to “seize opportunities when they come,” “carpe diem,” “take risks,” and various iterations of the same. Hearing the same earnest message from so many might be coincidental, but I feel it’s a message I need to share. It’s hard to overcome the threshold of hesitation before you take a leap – but this is often an important step when chasing a dream. I think the new year prompts a lot of folks to reflect and to think with hope about changes they want to make for the coming days. I’m feeling the same aura of hopefulness about the new year. It’s easier to dwell on the past and feel regret than it is to make an active change for the future. But as Eminem says, each opportunity comes but once in a lifetime. That’s not to say doors stay closed- it’s also possible to seek and create opportunity. My goal this year will be to do more things and see more places. I wish you opportunity in 2025!
