Dear Readers,

Every year, on my birthday, I watch the Adventures of Tintin: Secrets of the Unicorn movie. It’s widely known that I love the movie. Navin and I grew up reading the Tintin books by the brilliant artist Hergé. His attention to detail and subtle wit is so clear in every panel of the comic strip, especially in the latter set of his books. The movie does the book series justice, which isn’t an easy feat. But the reason I watch it every year is that I’m inspired by it. Tintin is a truly epic journalist. He exudes competence, is always driven to follow the story, and respects everyone he comes across. I aspire to be like him in my career and schoolwork – to be as reliable and perfect as he is- and of course to have a dog like Snowy! But even the incorrigible Captain Haddock is admirable in the story. The characters pursue the righteous choice even when it’s highly inconvenient. Tintin is a hard worker; he doesn’t wait for his tasks to become easier. On the night he discovers the Unicorn, he heads to the library very late at night, in a storm, because he’s pushed by his relentless curiosity to discover more. I wish I was even more like that, in daily life. With the long school days, I’m always glad when I’ve got a bit of a break. But discovery depends on progress, and it takes Tintin-like courage to make the most of our opportunities!

Love,
