Editorial December 2021
Dear Readers,
Well, the year is ending and a time approaches that we’ll all type/write 2021 on our documents before realizing with a start that another whole year has gone by. The crisp winter weather and the feathery light feeling of Christmas approaching is very uplifting, though. How wonderful it is to think that people all over the world are celebrating one joyful holiday at the same time?! The magic of the season is sepia-tinted nostalgia and evergreen at the same time. Not everything is perfect, and problems don’t disappear, of course – but it is certainly encouraging to think that Christmas is a time of miracles and new beginnings. Remember the Christmas Truce of 1914? Well, no, you say – 1914 is a LITTLE outside my experience timeline, Jaanu! Well, readers, think back to an article from December 2018 – in the midst of the First World War, enemy soldiers fighting for their lives on Christmas took a respite from the fighting to sing carols. Despite scary things like the rising threat of Omicron, we can remain hopeful and prayerful. Thank you from the Spirit team for being with us another year, and here’s to many more!! 🙂
With good cheer, love, and best wishes,
Editor Jaanu
