The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

What happens when Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson collaborate? Absolute magic. Fans of the original Tintin books will know that transferring Hergé’s charm and humor onscreen is no mean feat, but it’s done in this movie. The tongue-in-cheek humor is preserved entirely and the characters are brought to life perfectly! Intrepid, amazing Tintin, the noble wastrel Captain Haddock, and even blundering cops Thomson and Thompson are all true to form. Equally impressive is the animation, which is so life-like it had me rubbing my eyes and blinking. The realism of the living world combined with the enchantment of Hergé’s original art makes for an unforgettable movie that has it all. Just to add to the appeal of this film, note that the characters have an extremely impressive vocabulary. Does that make this film educational? Irregardless, it is a study in customs, tradition, and culture around the world. My only regret is that there isn’t a sequel yet – but fear not, it’s coming soon! Revolutionary animation, humor, and adventure; this definitely was not a waste of two hours! Find this film on Amazon Prime.
